U.S. Gypsum releases 100% Wood Fiber ENVIRO-SHIELD® PLUS Brand Bonded Fiber Matrix

The Specialty Products Division of United States Gypsum Company has introduced ENVIRO-SHIELD® PLUS Brand Bonded Fiber Matrix that prevents both water and wind erosion while promoting plant growth.

ENVIRO-SHIELD PLUS is manufactured from 100% contaminant-free virgin wood fiber.  Safe and non-toxic, the product is designed to be spray-applied in a variety of applications, including challenging conditions ranging from high elevations and steep slopes to areas that experience heavy rainfall. Because it is applied with conventional hydraulic seeding equipment, the matrix is more economical and faster to install than erosion control blankets or sod.

ENVIRO-SHIELD PLUS contains water-holding ingredients for improved retention of rainwater for quick, uniform germination of plant cover.  ENVIRO-SHIELD also supplies calcium and sulfur nutrients, improves the structure of heavy clays and improves water penetration.

"The new bonded fiber matrix consists of long strands of virgin wood fibers with the extra holding power of a high strength, nontoxic, gypsum-based binder. The system sprays on like a mulch and forms a blanket that adheres to the soil. When dry, the bonded fiber matrix mat is porous, erosion resistant and protects the soil surface.", said Brad Fogel, market manager for U.S. Gypsum's Specialty Products Division. It also offers an excellent solution in areas where public safety may be a concern, such as around schools, golf courses, housing developments, retail areas, roads and airports.

Packaged in 50-lb. bags, ENVIRO-SHIELD PLUS Brand Bonded Fiber Matrix is completely biodegradable and harmless to fish, birds, plants and animals.
