ENVIRO-SHIELD and ENVIRO-SHIELD PLUS (100% Wood Fiber) Bonded Fiber Matrix
USG ENVIRO-SHIELD® Bonded Fiber Matrix (BFM) products reduce erosion and promote plant growth. ENVIRO-SHIELD Bonded Fiber Matrix is applied by hydroseeding a slurry of fibers and bonding ingredients that cures to create a breathable, built-in-place protective blanket. This blanket is designed to minimize both water and wind erosion, as well as enhance germination, by protecting the seed until vegetation is established. Less expensive and faster to install than rolled blankets or sod, the matrix also helps return moisture to the soil and improves the structure of clay and sand soil.
- ENVIRO-SHIELD brand products are unique in that they are the only BFM's on the market that include gypsum, thereby supplying nutrients in the form of calcium and sulfur to the soil.
- ENVIRO-SHIELD and ENVIRO-SHIELD PLUS are environmentally safe and biodegradable.
- ENVIRO-SHIELD is cost effective because it's applied with conventional hydraulic seeding equipment which is more economical than blankets or erosion control netting.
- ENVIRO-SHIELD Brand Bonded Fiber Matrix products contain water-holding ingredients for improved retention of moisture from rainwater to allow quick and effective germination of plant cover.
- ENVIRO-SHIELD Cellulosic Fiber Formula is the only bonded fiber matrix that can be used via jet agitation mixing from an Easy Lawn Turf Master Series 350-600 Gallon Hydroseeder or a Turbo Turf jet hydroseeding unit, as well as larger mechanical units from all hydraulic seeding machine manufacturers.

Let thick grass grow! ENVIRO-SHIELD not only incorporates gypsum as a
binder, but also for the added benefits that independent tests show.

Solve erosion problems on a variety of sites:
- DOT and Highway projects: Can be applied quickly to small or large areas without cutting, trimming or stapling. ENVIRO-SHIELD has received DOT approval from a growing list of states. ENVIRO-SHIELD is also T.T.I. (Texas Transportation Institute-Hydraulic, Sedimentation and Erosion Control Laboratory) approved for slope protection.
- Landfill Final Cover: Can be used as a final landfill cap to control erosion while growing vegetation. View landfill photos
- Commercial and Residential Construction: Does not require stakes or pose potential hazards with left behind netting that can interfere with mowing. View Construction photos
- Golf Course Construction: Locks soil and seed in place allowing grass to mature into a healthy, dense cover at a fraction of the installed costs associated with sod or blankets. View Golf Course photos
- Mine Reclamation: Can be used for tough areas, including mined land reclamation projects. View Mine photos
